Australian Consumer Law Guarantees

Global Document Solutions Pty Ltd ("LeasemyPrinter") is committed to meeting its obligations under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL), set out in Schedule 2 of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth). When you acquire goods or services from us, you have automatic rights known as consumer guarantees.

Guarantees That Apply to Goods

Under the ACL (Sections 51-59), goods we supply must:

  • Be of acceptable quality, safe, durable, free from defects, acceptable in appearance and finish, and do what goods of that type normally do
  • Match any description we provided to you, whether on our website, in a quote, or during a conversation
  • Be fit for any disclosed purpose, if you told us what you needed the printer for, it must be reasonably fit for that purpose
  • Match any sample or demonstration model shown to you
  • Come with full title and clear ownership (or clear lease terms in the case of leased equipment)
  • Not carry any undisclosed securities or charges
  • Come with available spare parts and repair facilities for a reasonable period after purchase

Guarantees That Apply to Services

Under the ACL, services we supply (including installation, maintenance, and managed print services) must be:

  • Provided with due care and skill
  • Fit for any specified purpose you communicated to us
  • Supplied within a reasonable time (when no time is specified)

Business-to-Business Transactions

Most of our customers are businesses. Under the ACL, consumer guarantees still apply to business purchases where the goods or services cost less than $100,000, or where the goods or services are of a kind ordinarily acquired for personal, domestic, or household use. Since printer leases from LeasemyPrinter are typically under $100,000 in total value, your business is likely covered by these guarantees.

Your Remedies

If a consumer guarantee is not met, you may be entitled to a remedy. The type of remedy depends on whether the failure is major or minor:

Major Failure (Goods)

You can choose to:

  • Reject the goods and obtain a refund or replacement
  • Keep the goods and receive compensation for the drop in value

Major Failure (Services)

You can choose to:

  • Cancel the service contract
  • Obtain a refund for unconsumed services

Minor Failure

For minor failures, we must repair the goods or re-supply the services within a reasonable time. If we fail to do so, you may have the goods repaired elsewhere and recover reasonable costs from us, or cancel the contract.

How to Make a Claim

If you believe a consumer guarantee has not been met, please contact us:

We aim to resolve all complaints promptly and fairly. If we cannot resolve your complaint, you may contact the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) or your state or territory consumer protection agency.

Manufacturer Warranties

Consumer guarantees exist independently of and in addition to any manufacturer warranty. Even after a manufacturer warranty has expired, your ACL consumer guarantee rights may still apply.
