Pages Per Minute (PPM)

Pages per minute (ppm) is the rated output speed of a printer, measuring how many A4 pages it produces in a minute.

Pages per minute (ppm) is the rated output speed of a printer or MFP under standard test conditions, measuring how many A4 single-sided pages the device produces in one minute.

For business MFPs, ppm ratings typically range from around 20ppm for small-office A4 models to 65ppm for A3 production units.

The Toshiba eStudio range on the Mid North Coast covers 33ppm A4 colour desktop through to 65ppm A3 mono production.

In practice, throughput on a mixed workload of double-sided colour documents is lower than the rated speed, so ppm is most useful for comparing device classes rather than calculating exact job times.

In short

  • The rated print speed in A4 pages per minute.
  • Small office models start near 20ppm, production units reach 65ppm.
  • Best used to compare device classes, not to time exact jobs.
